Timeline


August 2000: Emlyn and Michael meet on the border of Malawi and Tanzania, during a four hour journey in the back of a Daihatsu van and begin to discuss laying the foundations for an orphanage.

September 2000: After visiting Michael’s village for three days, they agree to form an organization called The JCT Children’s Foundation, with the aim of providing continuous support and care for the orphaned children of Malawi.

June 2001: The JCT Children’s Foundation opened a centre in Nsanje, Chief Tengani’s village. 1000 children were registered with Austin Chirwa as the centre Manager.

May 2004: The JCT Children’s Foundation received land from Chief Tengani for the community to grow maize and vegetables.

January 2005: The JCT Children’s Foundation opened 2 centres: one in Lilongwe, Central Malawi with 250 children and another in Chitipa, Northern Malawi with 700 children.

August 2005: The JCT Children’s Foundation registered with NOVOC.

November 2005: The JCT Children’s Foundation received funding from Action Aid Malawi for the Lilongwe Centre amounting to MK 742, 190 (£3130.46).

December 2005: The JCT Children’s Foundation received a donation of clothes and shoes from the Evangelical Assemblies of God US through its Malawi based branch.

January 2006: The JCT Children’s Foundation received funding from World Vision Malawi amounting to MK 314, 000 (£1324.41) for Nsanje centre.

February 2006: The JCT Children’s Foundation received bails of second hand clothes, sugar and soap from Youth for the Mission from South Africa. This was for the Chitipa Centre.

March 2006: The JCT Children’s Foundation becomes a registered member of CONGOMA (Council for Non-Governmental Organisation of Malawi).

March 2006: All documentation to gain Charity Registration Number in the UK is sent off to the Charities Commission and is currently being processed, but we are still able to raise funds legally for the charity while this is being processed (time frame is around 6 months).

April 2006: Emlyn and Calvin Willman (Website Developer) constructed the website for The JCT Children’s Foundation.
